Obituary of Creola J. Purtee
Creola J. (Burley) Purtee, 75, Marion, passed away at 9:45 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2019, at Wesleyan Health Care Center in Marion. She was born in Blackford County on May 20, 1943, to Clinton and Edith M. (Clem) Burley.
Creola was married to Richard Purtee and was a homemaker throughout her life. Together, she and Richard raised three children: Geri, April, and Tommy. Creola loved to be outdoors and especially loved flowers. She enjoyed watching The Hallmark Channel, playing Yahtzee and Euchre, and reading her Bible. She was a member of Grace Community Church.
She is survived by her children: Geri (David) Messersmith, Marion; April (Chris) Townsend, Muncie; and Tommy (Kim) Purtee, Fairmount; grandchildren, Heather, Mallory, Kyle, Braydon, Jordyn, and Derrek; and great-grandchildren, Aurelia and Aveylah.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Richard; parents, Clinton (Edith) Burley; and brothers, David, Junior, and Paul Burley.
The family will receive visitors from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Integrity Funeral Care, 2901 S. Washington St., Marion, IN.
A funeral service to celebrate Creola’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2019, at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Hummel officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park.
