Obituary of Joan E. Cobb

Joan E. Cobb, 91, Indianapolis, formerly from Marion, went to be with the Lord at 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2019.  She was born in Grant County on August 7, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Dale and Carmen (Morris) Nicholson.

Joan was a graduate of Fairmount High School.  She married her loving husband, Coy O. Cobb, Sr., with whom she shared 47 years together before he passed away on April 14, 2018.  They raised eight children in addition to her working at the Marion VA Hospital for 20 years.

She held memberships with House of Worship for All People, Yellow Creek Conservation Club (lifetime member), American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post 95, and AFGE.

Joan was a true fisher “woman” and enjoyed fishing at their lake house, where they lived for fourteen years.  She and Coy loved to entertain and their door was always open to everyone.  You never left the house without food.  She was known for her peanut brittle she fixed at Christmastime.

She will be missed by her children: Edward (Carol) Trice, Fairmount; June (Dr. Robert) Holt, Indianapolis; Peggy (Mike) Mullin, Mountain Home, AR; Coy (Beth) Cobb, Jr., Lawrenceburg; Jack (WonHui) Trice, Lafayette; Cindy Cobb, Indianapolis; and Jimm (Ernest Ward) Cobb, Chicago; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Carole Miller, Marion.

Preceding her in death were her son, Henry Cobb, and her brother, Morris Nicholson.

The family will receive visitors from 10 to 11 a.m. with Joan’s funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2019, at House of Worship for All People, 1824 S. Branson St., Marion, IN.  Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
