Obituary of Mary M. Roach

Mary M. Roach, age 89, from Marion, went to be with the Lord in her home at 4:10 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2019.  She was born in Lincolnville, Indiana, on January 7, 1930, to the late Irvin and Bernice (Stoops) Fosnough.

Mary attended school at Lincolnville High School.  She married her beloved husband, Clifford L. Roach, on October 1, 1949, and they shared nearly 56 years together before he preceded her in death on April 25, 2005.  Together they had two daughters, Connie and Linda.

In 1993, Mary retired from the Marion VA Medical Center where she worked in the dietetics department since 1975.  She enjoyed word search puzzles, as well as planting flowers in her garden in the springtime.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the loves of her life.  She loved cooking for them, playing with them, and taking them shopping when she was younger.  Mary was a member of Grace Community Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Connie Southerland and Linda Smith; grandchildren, Jennifer (Larry Cochran) Smith, LaFontaine, and Jaime Smith, Kokomo; great-grandchildren, Hattie and Dylan Cochran; her fur babies whom she dearly loved, Buddy and Chloe; and sisters-in-law, Margaret Fosnough, Marion, and Betty Fosnough, Marion.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald, Gene, Ralph, Elmer, and George Fosnough, as well as her fur baby, Otis.

The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held at 12 noon with Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating.  Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Family LifeCare Hospice, 705 S. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN 46953.
