Obituary of Phillip E. Rust

Phil was born in Marion on May 9, 1934 to the late Everett and Aletha A. (Kem) Rust. He passed away in Marion General Hospital on June 9, 2019.

Phil was a 1952 graduate of Van Buren High School. After high school he started working as a mechanic at Munson’s Pontiac where he worked for 20 years. He retired from Indiana Michigan Power in 1995 after 20 years of service. Phil met the love of his life, Donna Faulkner, at Pierce’s Pastries in downtown Marion and they were married on November 6, 1965. Mrs. Rust survives.

In Phil’s free time he could be found in his woodworking shop making or fixing treasures brought to him by his daughter, Kim. He could fix anything. He also enjoyed hunting, camping and traveling. Phil was always up for going anywhere and there better not be any loafing when they got there! Phil and Donna were never seen without the other and had a tremendous life together full of love and fun. Phil was an active member of the Deer Creek Conservation Club where he forged great friendships. He was also a member of the NRA.

Phil is also survived by two daughters, Linda D. (Danny) Stevens, Cape Coral, Florida and Kimberly (Mathew) Willman, Fairmount; sister, Dorothy Doyle, Marion; three grandchildren, Kristina Stevens, Cape Coral, Florida; Logan (Natasha) Willman, Westfield; Blaine Willman, Marion; three great-grandchildren, Alivia Ashmore, Airiana Ashmore and Cade Willman.
He is also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Turner.

Visitation will be held from 5pm-8pm on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 in Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, 2722 South Washington Street, Marion, Indiana. The funeral will be held at 11am on Thursday, June 13, 2019 in the funeral home with Pastor Darryl Smith officiating. The entombment will immediately follow in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion.
