Obituary of Iris M Spencer
Iris M. Spencer, 80, of Fowlerton, met her Lord and Savior at 12:30 am on Thursday, September 12, 2019, at University Nursing Center in Upland. She was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee, on October 17, 1938, to the late Herman and Martha Campbell. On August 31, 1956, she married Harold R. Spencer, and he survives.
Iris was an Officer in Charge for 30 years with the Fowlerton Post Office. She was a member of Fowlerton United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, served in the United Methodist Women, and was the church treasurer. Iris was an excellent cook and baked angel food cakes for her community. She loved doing embroidery work in her younger years. She will be remembered as a cheerful, song-filled, and loving woman who will be missed greatly by her friends and family.
In addition to her loving husband of 64 years, survivors include her son, Harold R. Spencer, II, of Dallas, TX; daughter, Diane Spencer of Fowlerton; grandson, Doug Harris of Houston, TX; and sister, Nancy.
In addition to her parents, Iris was preceded in death by her step-mother, Iris Campbell; two brothers, Kenneth and Kermit; and two daughters, Susan Bunch and Ruth Ann Spencer.
The family will receive visitors from 4:00-8:00 pm on Monday, September 16, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
A funeral service to celebrate Iris' life will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at the funeral home. Pastor Jack Scott will be officiating with entombment following at Grant Memorial Park.
