Obituary of Rita M (Esarey) Parker-McMullen
Rita Marie (Esarey) Parker-McMullen, 75, Marion, passed away at 2:35 am on Friday, September 20, 2019, in her home. She was born in English, Indiana, on Friday, July 7, 1944, to the late Charles and Nova (Sherron) Esarey. On December 20, 1991, she married Thomas "Tom" McMullen, and he survives. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church.
Rita was a homemaker, but she had also worked at different retail stores and, more recently, at United Technologies and Lyons Uniforms, retiring in 1998. She truly enjoyed all of her grandchildren and her special great-grandchildren, Makenzie and Kyler. Some of her hobbies included gardening, working in the yard, reading, and traveling with Tom.
Survivors include her husband, Tom; daughter, Shellie Rollins of Porter, OK; son, Scott (Patricia) Parker of Marion; step-sons, Tim (Daphne) McMullen and Heath McMullen, both of Marion; brother, Charles (Beverley) Esarey of Anderson; half-brother, Fallis Esarey of Marion; sister-in-law, Billie Esarey; granddaughters, Heather (John) of Marion and Hailey Marie of Gas City, Amanda, Arianna (Dewey) Parker, and Kayla (Chris) Butche, all of Marion, Ashley (Kevin) Lopez of Coweta, OK, Marissa Friend of Sand Springs, OK, and Cortney (Luke) Colvin of Huntington; grandsons, Dylan McMullen of Fort Wayne, Seth (Kali) McMullen of Cibolo, TX, Jarrid (Jessica), Justin, and Jonathon Parker, all of Marion, and Eric Coen of San Diego, CA; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Kristopher; sister, Brenda Kelley; and brother, Cameron Esarey.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at St. James Lutheran Church, 1206 N. Miller Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Rita's life will begin at 1:00 pm with Rev. Randall Glander officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
